Constructed from 1901 through 1907, originally to serve as private homes for low-income workers.
Designed with the residents' comfort and health in mind; the units provide ample air and light, and each has space for a garden.
After World War II, they became rental housing for Pratt faculty and staff.
Eleven of the thirty-eight townhouses built were demolished as part of the Pratt Institute area urban renewal project in the 1950's.
Only the townhouses on Emerson, Steuben and Willoughby remain.
