The Declare Label is a nutrition label being used in furniture and building materials to clearly outline the materials and chemicals being used in the products. Each ingredient must be reported with a chemical name, CAS number, and percentage or percentage range. The Declare Label also outlines a list of harmful chemicals on their ‘Red List’ that checks all products for toxins that pollute the environment, reach toxic concentrations in the food chain or are harmful to human health. The chemicals that are in the product that appear on the red list are highlighted clearly for customers to see. Other less harmful chemicals are noted in yellow. IIt also breaks down end of lifecycle options such as take back programs, recyclability level or if it would end up in a landfill, also incentivising people to figure out how to resell and dispose of the product more ethically. The Declare Label is the easiest labeling to clearly understand for consumers and shows clear transparency and certification for manufacturers.
