The food of Italy is unmatched. With simple seasonal ingredients, the quality and flavor of the food were always outstanding. Having meals that stretched on for hours was an adjustment from the busy New York lifestyle, it was a much-needed break from the long days filled with so much activity. It was also the best way to sit down and really get to know the group better. Many great conversations were had over these meals, making them all the more memorable.
Even as a vegetarian, I had no issues finding delicious food to enjoy. The perfect cheeses, fresh produce, and homemade doughs were perfection. Between all of the variations of pizza, pasta, and other dishes, I was often able to find a meatless version of the classics. For a couple of meals, I was also able to visit vegetarian/vegan restaurants, which were also phenomenal.
And with my sweet tooth, the desserts were a dream. I typically eat a lot of ice cream so the abundance of gelato was amazing. While I had some kind of sweets every day, these photos only highlight the best of the best.
