The Concept of Carpool started when people travelling to the same destination at same point of time from the same place of origination come together and decide to travel in a common car instead of travelling alone in their personal cars.
The car-poolers can be of three types:
· Car owner cum passenger – Those who own a car but would like to take it to office on odd and even days and wish to share with others.
· Car owner – Those who own a car.
· Passenger – Those who use public transport and would like to pool into a members personal car.
Advantages of Carpool
If you own a car and pool it, it not only saves money but also helps you save upto 80% of money spent on fuel, toll tax, parking charges, insurance and vehicle maintenance. · Agree upon a route of commute that is suitable to all and then stick to it unless otherwise decided with mutual consent.
· Respect your co-passengers and driver and treat them EQUALLY. For us, all of you are equally important. Any incident of misbehavior with either the co-passenger or car owner would call for cancellation of your membership. good practice to pay your share of the fortnight’s fare before moving out.
· Please avoid smoking in the pooled car or take prior consent of your co-passengers.
· Consumption of alcohol in the pooled car is absolutely prohibited. Any such incident we would call for cancellation of your membership.
· If all don't share the same taste in music, use personal headphones/earphones
· Maintain a comfortable distance between the members, especially when you are pooling with members of the opposite gender.
· Do not opt out of the pool without a fortnight’s notice, this would help co-passengers find a suitable substitute. If you still have to move out immediately, it is a good practice to pay your share of the fortnight’s fare before moving out.
· Last but not the least, keep the conversation light and enjoyable.
