ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE BREED!
A huge, powerful dog breed with ancient Roman roots is the Cane Corso! This breed was prized for its bravery, loyalty, and strength and was mostly used for hunting and property protection.
The Latin word "Cohors," indicating "guardian" or "protector," is the meaning of the name "Cane Corso." In Italy, these dogs were considered very valuable for their ability to hunt wild boar and keep intruders away from the property. The frequent use of this breed in dogfighting and bullbaiting caused several modifications throughout time, including a decrease in size. The first and second World War almost saw the end of this breed.
Frequent exercise helps for maintaining a Cane Corso's behavior. A dog that gets regular exercise tends to be more collected, responsive to training, and less likely to engage in bad habits.
As long as they manage to spend 30 to 45 minutes a day going for a walk or jog, they are satisfied to spend their majority of the day relaxing indoors. The families who aren't seeking for a breed that demands continual activity and excitement, this makes them an excellent option!
Due to their size and protective instincts, it's important to establish clear boundaries and rules early on.
While early socialization and puppy training sessions are advised for all dogs, they are highly recommended for a breed as large and powerful as the Cane Corso. They have a tendency to be protective and powerful; socialization will help to make sure that they develop into well-mannered, well-adjusted adults.
The coat of the Cane Corso is short but has two layers. The dog's undercoat, the length of which changes according on the climate in which it lives.
During the shedding season, brushing your dog once a week with a medium-bristle brush, a rubber grooming mitt or tool, or a hound glove can help remove dead hair and encourage the growth of new hair. Like any other breeds, dogs need to receive regular nail trims since extremely long nails can hurt and make it difficult for them to run and walk.
LIFESPAN
The average lifespan of a Cane Corso is 9 - 12 years. This means you can expect a decently long life with your pet - especially if you get them as a puppy!
