This year students kicked off the school year right with a jam packed week filled with fun and community building!
Monday: Students enjoyed freezies and lawn games to start the year with energy and connection.
Tuesday: Sidewalks around the school were decorated with colorful chalk art and positive messages.
Wednesday: Students signed refurbished fence posts that will be installed in our learning garden, creating a lasting mark for future students to see.
Thursday: We hosted our first-ever Ultimate Rock Paper Scissors Competition. Congratulations to Bennett Karst, who secured the win with an impressive 68 points.
This past December, MHCB partnered with our local first responders to launch Moose Jaw’s first-ever Hygiene Drive for Youth! Thanks to the generosity of our community, we received an incredible donation of hygiene products, allowing us to support students in need.
To continue this spirit of giving, we hosted a Stop 'n' Shop during finals week, where students and community members had the opportunity to thrift clothing at no cost. These initiatives help ensure that every young person has access to essential items, fostering confidence and well-being!
During finals week, MHCB transformed the library into a supportive space to help students prepare for their exams. Students were invited to take brain breaks, explore new study techniques, and practice problem-solving and grounding strategies to use during their tests.
By providing a calm and encouraging environment, we aimed to help students manage stress, stay focused, and feel confident as they tackled their exams!
On February 14, along with celebrating Valentine's Day, students participated in Have a Heart Day, a youth-led initiative that raises awareness about the rights of Indigenous children in Canada. As a school, we reflected on how we can advocate for kindness, fairness, and equal access to education and healthcare.
Students also took part in hands-on activities, creating heartfelt messages to share their commitments to promoting fairness in society. It was a meaningful way to take action and show support for reconciliation.
On Nov 13-2024, students created kindness-grams to send to staff or students to share some positivity!
On October 10, 2024, in celebration of Mental Health Awareness Day, students were invited to a mental health trade show in the lounge. This event was made possible through a collaboration with Journey to Hope and local nursing students.
