Ramadan Celebration

April 2024 - April 12th: Our school's Friday Family movie night was a huge success! Families gathered to watch the movie Elemental while enjoying popcorn and drinks. The event was not only a fun evening for everyone, but it also served as a fundraiser for our 3rd-grade students' upcoming trip. We're thrilled to announce that we raised $800 towards the trip. It was a great opportunity for families to come together, enjoy a movie, and support a good cause.

On Monday, April 15th, we celebrated Cultural Diversity Night with great enthusiasm. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students and families to explore different cultures from around the world through hands-on learning and sampling of delicious foods. The Students were thrilled to receive passports at the door, which were stamped with a flag sticker from each country they visited. This interactive approach allowed them to experience each culture's uniqueness and appreciate our school's diversity.

April 16th- Our Student of the Month celebration was a great success! We had an amazing turnout, with 46 family members joining us to celebrate our high-achieving students. It was a fantastic opportunity for us to recognize and honor our students and their guardians' hard work and dedication.

Students and guardians were presented with a Certificate of Excellence for their outstanding achievement during the event. We celebrated the occasion with a small incentive of family pictures, and of course, no celebration is complete without cake!

Full-Service Community Schools Health Center and Full-Service School 5 (NJCDC) received a generous donation of about 800 toys from Councilman Shahin Khalique on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024. This toy incentive is intended as a holiday present for our Muslim students, who will be celebrating on April 10th, 2024. The donation was extended to all students. School 5 students were overjoyed by your thoughtful contribution. Your generosity means so much to us, especially during this special time of celebration. We Thank you, Councilman Shahin Khalique, for Your generous donation, has touched us deeply, and we are honored to have you as a part of our School 5 family. Additionally, we wanted to extend our sincerest thanks to Mayor André Sayegh for gracing our event with his presence. His attendance added an extra layer of joy and significance to our celebration, and we are truly honored by his participation. 

April 2024 - JFK students partaking in sports physicals and Vision to Learn services at our JFK Health Center! Go Knights!

April 2024 - During the month of April, 1st grade students of Dr. Frank Napier School of Technology No.4 had the privilege of visiting Turtle Back Zoo. The students were able to see all different types of wildlife and animals. They also learned about habitat, the environment and the importance of animal safety 

March 2024 - Paterson Public School No. 10 had a Family Craft Night. While doing these projects, families could enjoy spending time with their kids and demonstrating their sense of peacefulness. There were coloring pages, paints, canvases, and materials to make bracelets. Families were ecstatic and collected coloring sheets to do as a family activity at home. 

March 2024 - Read-A-Loud Family event with our after school program second grade students. A few of our students read short stories to their family and friends.  In these pics I highlight Abigail and Hendrick.  Both students are English learners who are also beautiful readers.  They practiced a lot and were very proud to be reading to their parents.  After reading, the kids worked with their parents on finger puppets.  

March 2024 - We celebrated March as Read Across America month, filled with fun and inspiration. The month-long celebration was made even more special with our schools' AmeriCorps team, students from William Paterson and Montclair colleges, City Officials, and Well-Point, who joined us in promoting the importance of reading with read-out loads, book giveaways, contests, and fun activities. Our students were thrilled to welcome five authors who shared their inspiring stories and experiences of making a career out of writing stories that capture the imagination. The joy and excitement on our students' faces were genuinely priceless. 

February 22 - NRC Students participated in a Black History Month Lunch & Learn. Students learned about historic inventors and their inventions that shaped our daily lives.

February 2024 - JFK's Men of Distinction event was a success! This was a workshop empowering young men to understand their value & teaching them etiquette skills and tools for their present & future.  

February 2024 - The Alonzo "Tambua" Moody Academy had the Vision to Learn team come in and complete screenings for students in need of glasses. This event was held on February 9, 2024. We were able to provide 5 students with a detailed eye exam. They were given the opportunity to choose a pair of frames of their choice and in three weeks they will receive them. 

February 2024 - Eastside High School Full Service Community Health Center Pediatrics services are up and running. For the month of January, we have seen a total of 6 students for sick visit and physicals.  For the month of February, we currently have seen 3 students for physical with 6 pending this week.  

February 2024 - Celebrating Valentine's Day with crafts and photos...

February 6, 2024 - NRC held a " Mini Community Health Fair" in which they were able to engage with parents and community members. They had various partners present, providing information, goodie bags and resources. The list of community partners was as follows: School NRC Counseling Department, NRC School Nurse, NJ Snaps Food Support Services (CFBNJ), NJ Family Care, NJ Lead. We had a great turnout of parents engaging with each table. NJ Snap provided enrollments into their program. Similarly, the Health Clinic gave out enrollment packets, and NJ Family care had multiple families attempt to enroll or get clarity on the status of their previous applications. Nj Family Care took the time to not leave without seeing all the families that needed help getting medical insurance. Overall, everyone walked away with a tank full of knowledge on better ways to be mindful of their children's health and needs.  

February 5, 2024 - The FSCS Meet & Greet and Coat Give Away at School 10 brought over 40 parents together to learn more about the services available and what a Full-Service Community School is all about. Through the collaboration of the Boys & Girls Club of Paterson, they were also able to discuss the after-school program that is offered. They distributed over 100 coats for students and had a crockpot raffle at this event.  The family who won the raffle was overjoyed and expressed gratitude.   

February 2024 - During the month of February, the DFN No. 4 Full-Service Team has facilitated the annual spelling bee for grades 1 - 4. This year's 1st grade winner is Jacob Jimenez, who displayed outstanding knowledge and confidence on his way to being a spelling champion. Grades 2 - 4 will take place throughout the remaining weeks in February. 

January 2024 - NRC students participated in the first FSCS student activity of the new year. In honor of Martin Luther King Jr students participated in our "Lunch & Paint" activity to promote peace and positivity in the hallways. During their lunch periods, students painted their idea of peace on blank canvas to hang on our bulletin boards and throughout NRC. Inspired by "When You Close Your Eyes & Think of Peace, What Do You See?" 

January 2024 - JFK FSCS after-school DRAMA club has been such a success for the students involved. Drama club students have been given the opportunity to explore their creativity through scene work, improv and script writing. These students are our next Award-Winning Actors! 

January 2024 - We hosted our Subaru Loves Event Thursday 1/25.  The event consisted of distributing 300 coats and 200 pairs of sneakers.  Through Operation Warm we were paired with our new friends at Subaru.  It was an amazing experience.  Our student council helped them with distribution and helped us set up and clean up.  The kids were super excited with their brand new coats! 

January 11,  2024 - First food distribution as a Full-Service Community School at School 10!  

January 2024 - On 1/9 the YES Program participants went on a field trip to the New Jersey State Museum. They were given a tour of the museum, a planetarium show and fossil finding workshop. The students were taught about the planet's history and what it means to preserve the planet. The students were a delight and had a wonderful time. 

December 2023 - Family Game Night in December! A Safe Place for Parents and Students to gather together and have fun while enjoying instructional and organized games by Certified Teachers. Come show your kids Math and Literacy can be fun too!!!

FSCS#15 Inner City Ensemble, an Arts Nonprofit, held an assembly addressing Identity, Belonging, Social Justice & Reform with built in musical movement expression to reinforce confidence and the comfortability in using the English Language both in and outside of the classroom.

December 16, 2023 - Over 250 School 16 families enjoyed the breakfast with Santa celebration held on 12/16. Families enjoyed crafts, photos and fun at the event.

On December 5 & 6, ATM Academy hosted a TIP THE SCALE NUTRITION WORKSHOP for the students. Total students that participated in this workshop were 33.

Purpose: The goal was be to promote a healthy exercise routine and diet. Especially with students getting older, it is important to understand our main sources of nutrition, macros, and how our body responds to them. 

Activity: Involve a MyPlate relay race. Students will need to express what some of their thoughts of sources of protein, carbohydrates, vegetables, etc. After the relay race, the students enjoyed a protein smoothie made by our nutrition team members. They had a conversation on how to refuel after an eventful day.

November 28, 2023 - The U.S. Department of Education today announced the Paterson Board of Education has been awarded a Full-Service Community Schools grant that will provide it with a five year grant of over $11,000,000 which will help deepen community partnerships and connect children and families to vital resources that meet their holistic needs.

November 14th , 2023 - New Roberto Clemente (NRC) hosted the Turkey Distribution to families. The FSCS Health Clinic treatment coordinator Sully Santiago & Shalika Ulloa alongside with Americorp Members provided 47 families of the community with turkey or chicken of their choice with a thanksgiving box with can good to help them make a Thanksgiving Meal. A big thank you to St. Paul's Community Development who provided this amazing donation for our families. 

November 2023 - FSCS in collaboration with the Teen Center was sponsored by Saint Paul's CDC for our Annual Thanksgiving Giveaway. Saint Paul's was able to give us 65 turkeys and food bags. We are proud to announce that within 30 minutes, everything was gone, and the giveaway was a success! 

NOVEMBER 2023 - For anti-bullying month 6th - 8th graders all wrote positive messages to each other for display. Each grade received a theme and a proper place to hang their message on the walls. Different events and the positive messages will continue all through the month of November. 

November 2023 - FSCS had the privilege of delivering a nutrition presentation to school 5 students. This engaging and informative session aimed to help our young learners understand the significance of proper nutrition. Using interactive activities and real-life examples, we made learning about nutrition fun and relatable. We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to empower them with this essential knowledge, and we encourage all our students to continue their journey toward better nutrition for a healthier future. 

November 2023 - Math money learning fun with Mrs. Ferrer 

October 2023 - During the after-school program, a student council team was formed. The members of the after-school program voted on who they chose to represent them. These six students will have the responsibility of being a representative of the program and the student body. They will also problem solve and be leaders throughout the year.  

On Oct 3rd Alonzo "Tambua" Moody Academy enthusiastically hosted their annual Back to School Night. FSCS Health Clinic was able to present to parents information about the Full-Service Community Schools program. Additionally, we spoke to them about the services offered specifically by the health clinic. The night continued with us tabling alongside NJ FamilyCare, who also presented on how uninsured students and parents could get insurance. We were lucky enough to provide additional information on getting a free mammogram from St Joseph's hospital in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Last but certainly not least we were able to provide free backpacks with schools supplies to parents to give to students who need them in collaboration with Paterson Healing Collective. It was an active night meeting the parents of our wonderful students.

September 2023 - Dads Take Your Child to School is an initiative to encourage and celebrate the engagement of father figures in the education of their children.  This is the 4th year this event was hosted it at PS 2 and it was the best attended year yet!

Everyone had a great time and A lucky winner at the end of the event won a wand from the NYC Harry Potter World!

May 2022 - An afternoon full of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math, Pizza, and lots of laughs.

It was great having teachers join the kids and families for some fun.  Our School 2 8th graders and 2 JFK Ambassadors were rockstars!  They helped to set up, clean up, and led all the stations.  Amazing kids.

Students were lead in a nutritional cooking class by a nutritionist from ShopRite. We had 14 families participate and 22 kids participate in total. The kids made a seven layer dip and chocolate chip mug cakes.

November 19, 2021 - Thanksgiving Dinner @ the Brownstone! New Destiny Family Success Center & Full Service invited Youth Resiliency & School #6 participants for a Thanksgiving Dinner at the Brownstone. We hosted 16 families, with 72 people in total! Families were provided transportation, full dinners, and family photos from a photo booth!
