October 23025 - Monthly Attendance Initiatives - Ice Pop Reward Day

School 2 has monthly attendance initiatives to increase and maintain student attendance throughout the month and the school year. For the month of September, classes with 93% or better attendance were able to celebrate with a yummy Ice Pop Reward. There were a total of 23 participating classes that achieved the attendance incentive for September!

We brought a bit of fall fun to School 2 by setting up our very own Pumpkin Patch! Students had the chance to pick out their own pumpkin to take home and pose for a festive class photo.

Our Student Council members also joined in on the fun, lending a helping hand throughout the event and to the younger students as they searched for the perfect pumpkin.

The event coincided with our K–2 Halloween Parade, so you might spot some students showing off their costumes in the pictures! For those who don’t celebrate Halloween, the pumpkin patch provided a fun and inclusive seasonal activity that everyone could enjoy.

School 10 - Donuts with Dad

SEPTEMBER 2025 - School No. 10 proudly celebrated National Fathers Take Your Child to School Day with a heartwarming Donuts With Dads event. This special morning honored fathers and other important male role models who make a positive impact in our students’ lives every day.

As part of the celebration, dads had the opportunity to take a Polaroid picture with their child, which they placed in a magnetic frame to take home — a meaningful keepsake they could proudly display on the fridge as a reminder of their time together at school.

One father shared how much the event meant to him, saying, “I’m happy the school held something like this just for fathers. Sometimes, all dads get grouped together and given a bad reputation — but events like this remind us that there are good fathers out here who care. I really felt appreciated.”

We are grateful for the strong turnout and the positive energy from everyone involved. We’re also excited about the opportunity to stay connected with the fathers who attended — and we’re hopeful they’ll help spread the word and encourage even more dads to participate in the future.

Building a strong school community starts with meaningful connections — and this event was a great step forward!

One of the most touching moments of the celebration was the students’ performance of the song "On My Way." Their beautiful and spirited rendition filled the room with pride, joy, and hope for the exciting journey ahead.

The Moving Up Ceremony not only marked the end of a successful school year but also celebrated the bright future ahead for these eager young learners. We’re so proud of our kindergarteners and can’t wait to see all they’ll achieve in first grade and beyond.

ATMA DJ Class Launch Recap: Where the Beat Begins!

We officially kicked off our After-School DJ & Beat Making Program—and what a launch it was!

Students came in excited, curious, and ready to jump into the world of DJing. Our first session focused on one of the fundamentals: counting beats—a key skill for looping, blending tracks, and transitioning between songs and even genres. As the beats dropped and the mixers lit up, students learned how rhythm drives everything in DJing.

While it might’ve seemed simple at first, many realized quickly: this art form takes focus, timing, and a deep connection to the music. From staying locked into the tempo to understanding how different genres can flow together, the room was buzzing with energy, laughter, and "aha!" moments.

Yes, it was challenging—but that only added to the fun.

There were moments of trial and error, but also real breakthroughs. Students shared smiles and high fives as they nailed their first clean blend or figured out how to loop a beat just right. By the end of the session, they weren’t just learning music—they were feeling it.

This was just the beginning. Over the next 8 weeks, students dove deeper into beat making, live performance techniques, sound design, and even the business of DJing—learning how to turn this skill into a creative outlet or even a side hustle.

Stay tuned for more updates as our young DJs continue to learn, grow, and vibe to their own rhythm.

the “Vaping and Consequences” workshop, in collaboration with our trusted partners from NJ4S. During this important training, NJ4S professionals led a dynamic and informative presentation about the dangers of vaping. Through real-life examples, impactful data, and a clear, relatable approach, students learned about the physical, emotional, and social consequences of vaping.

“I didn’t know vaping could hurt your lungs so badly. It really made me think twice before ever trying it,” shared one student at the end of the session. These are the moments that show us the message is getting through—we’re planting seeds of awareness and self-respect.

School 16 Celebrates Moms

On May 15th, as part of the PPSchool16 After School Program, we experienced an afternoon full of emotion, talent, and gratitude during our Mother’s Day Celebration. The stars of the event were our students, who enthusiastically and diligently prepared a beautiful dance performance for their mothers. They rehearsed for several weeks to ensure everything was perfect, and the result was simply spectacular. Once again, we thank our beloved Mr. Kiion, our favorite dance instructor, for his contagious energy and for being a constant inspiration to the children.

✨ One of the most memorable moments was the participation of the Kindergarten children, who shone brightly with their dance to "Farolito" by the great Juan Luis Guerra. Thanks to the love, patience, and dedication of Mrs. Tineo and Mrs. Batista, this performance was a huge success and brought joy to everyone present. During this special day, we also enjoyed:

NJHS 2025

The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a prestigious nationwide organization that recognizes and celebrates outstanding middle school students who exemplify excellence in Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Character, and Citizenship.

NJHS is more than just an honor roll—it is a platform that nurtures well-rounded individuals and empowers students to grow into responsible, engaged citizens. Through meaningful service projects, leadership opportunities, and character-building activities, NJHS members gain firsthand experience in making a positive impact in their school and community.

At School No. 10, NJHS members worked under the dedicated guidance of Ms. Wilson and Ms. Vancheri, who served as the chapter’s supervisors. With their support, students not only upheld the core values of NJHS but also developed the skills and mindset needed to lead with integrity and purpose.

As part of this esteemed group, students are encouraged to lead by example, give back to others, and strive for excellence in all aspects of life—laying a strong foundation for future success in high school and beyond.

YES PROGRAM 2025

Students from the YES Program at School No. 10—Shantal, Emelly, Neveah, Arleny, Yael, Jase, Angel, Zah'Maira, Shiarah, Ralph, Diana, Felix, and Ka'rine—demonstrated strong leadership and creativity as they tackled key issues in their school environment. Representing the Titans, these students focused on two major goals: enhancing the beauty and inspiration of the third floor and initiating a workshop for teachers on how to effectively address student misbehavior in the classroom.

Inspired by the YES process, students were particularly drawn to the elements of respectfully standing up for themselves and using inspirational quotes to uplift their learning environment. Guided by School No. 10’s motto, "Your Attitude Determines Your Altitude," they took thoughtful action to bring positive change.

To transform the third floor, students designed and displayed large canvases with inspirational quotes, created flags representing different countries to celebrate diversity, and are currently working on obtaining college banners from various universities to foster a sense of aspiration and academic pride.

Through this process, students learned the value of respectful self-expression and the power of advocacy. They discovered that when they speak their minds with respect, their voices are more likely to be heard—a powerful and constructive way to approach challenges and drive meaningful change in their school community.

SFLS 6 Easter Math Egg Hunt

Our After-School Program’s Family Friday: Easter Math Egg Hunt was egg-cellent! Students raced around the gym to find colorful eggs—but these weren’t your typical treats. Inside each egg was a fun math challenge, ready to be solved with the help of a parent, guardian, or teacher.

After collecting their eggs, students sat down with their families and worked together to solve each problem. Once they had the correct answers, they exchanged them for awesome prizes like books, Play-Doh, stickers, bubbles, pencils, and more!

Thank you to everyone who participated and made this evening so special. It was a perfect blend of fun, learning, and family connection.

We’re already looking forward to our next Family Friday event!

ATMA Brush & Bloom

April 2025 - Brush & Bloom: A Creative Family Celebration of Earth Day

Following Earth Day, we brought families together for a joyful and meaningful event—Brush & Bloom: A Plant and Paint Party!

This hands-on experience gave students and their parents the chance to slow down, connect, and express their creativity by painting Terra Cotta pots and selecting a plant to care for. With every brushstroke and plant potted, participants embraced lessons in mindfulness, patience, and growth—both in nature and within themselves.

Beyond the paint and soil, the event fostered family bonding, environmental awareness, and a stronger sense of community connection. Laughter, creativity, and conversation filled the room, and with refreshments provided, the atmosphere stayed relaxed and welcoming.

We’re grateful for the families who joined us in celebrating sustainability, creativity, and togetherness. Let’s keep growing—together.

March 2025 -Winter 4 Kids

In the month of March, a group of students from grades 5-8 had the chance to go on a 3-day ski trip—something many of them had never experienced before. These students were chosen because of the challenges they’ve worked hard to overcome, whether it’s in the classroom, with behavior, or in their personal lives. This was a first for both the students and the school. These students come from all kinds of backgrounds, and many face unique challenges in their neighborhood. For them, saying “I went on a ski trip!” is something truly special. It’s not an opportunity they get every day, and we’re so proud they got to have this unforgettable experience. Seeing the smiles on their faces because of this trip is something we will never forget.

Read Across America

In celebration of Read Across America, our full-service staff and interns visited grades K-2 for a fun reading event. We read stories like Pete the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes, Cool Beans, Dragons Love Tacos, and Giraffes Can’t Dance. The students were engaged, asked great questions, and really enjoyed the books. At the end of the session, each student received a small token—pencils, bookmarks, erasers, or stickers—to take home. It was a wonderful way to celebrate reading, spark curiosity, and inspire a love of books in our young readers!

January 2025 - The self-esteem activity involved speaking with a group of girls who were selected by the school SAC counselor and guidance team. Initially, it was a bit challenging to engage them, as they weren't accustomed to this kind of setting. However, the activity turned out to be a valuable opportunity to connect with the girls, hear about the issues that were most concerning to them, and offer support in boosting their confidence. It allowed for an open and honest exchange, helping to foster a sense of trust and understanding.

By providing popcorn as a prize, it adds an element of excitement and motivation for students to show up regularly to class. The incentive helps make attending school feel more rewarding and can be a lighthearted way to reinforce the importance of being present, both for academic success and community engagement. It also promotes positive behavior and builds a sense of accomplishment for students who are consistently attending. Our first winners to reach 10 days of a full class of students is our 2nd Grade Ms. Mattocks class!

The Fall Festival was a day full of fun activities to celebrate the fall season. We transformed the school field into a pumpkin patch with over 200 pumpkins for our students to select from. Also, we had craft stations where the students were able to make their own Halloween masks, color their slap bracelets, and create necklaces. We had a variety of games like fishing for apples, pin the nose, candy corn bowling, and spooky ring toss. We even had a dance teacher leading fun dance animations for the students to let loose! To finish it all off, each class took a group photo at our fall themed photobooth! The students loved all of the fall festivities and were bouncing with energy!

School 10

October 2024 - School 10 had a Harvest Festival for grades K-5. There were multiple stations for the students to stop and trick or treat at. Students hesitated at first but were excited with the treat they had chosen and had a good laugh!

Eastside High School

October 2024 - The School Counseling Department and the Full Service Community Schools program came together to provide Eastside students with an opportunity to begin owning their futures. Eastside High School hosted a College & Career Fair on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in the school's gymnasium.  While some students may not get the opportunity to visit colleges, Eastside removed that barrier by inviting various colleges and trades schools to the students. Twenty-four colleges, universities, and trade schools participated in the fair and were thoroughly impressed by the enthusiasm and excitement of Eastside's students. A representative from Passaic County Community College expressed that it was great to begin exposing students to these types of opportunities to give them a head start on their future. An Eastside 11th grader expressed how he overjoyed he was to get an opportunity to visit so many colleges at one time.  To add to the excitement of the college fair, the Marine Corps and Army set up a physical training station where students were challenged to do push-up and pull-ups. Some students took on the challenge while others watched as their peers participated.  By participating in the College & Career Fair, 1, 700 9th - 12th grade students were able to enhance their communication and networking skills and explore their passions. Eastside High School's top priority is to continue providing opportunities for students that will prepare them for life after high school.

October 24, 2024 - A Fun Day at the Pumpkin Patch! 🎃

On October 24th, a total of 221 students in K-3 participated in our Annual Pumpkin Patch! It was a day full of games, pumpkins, and lots of smiles. When students first arrived, there were games to play. We had Connect 4, Tic-Tac-Toe, and Cornhole. Each student got to participate and take turns. After playing games, it was time to pick pumpkins! Students were eager to pick out their own pumpkins. We reminded them to carefully walk and pick their pumpkin from the bottom, instead of the stem. When their pumpkins were chosen, classes had their picture taken at the Fall Photo Op with color leaves, hay bales, balloon scarecrows, and cornstalks. With the help of eight 8th-grade students and our Full-Service Staff, we made a fun and memorable experience for our students. We are looking forward to next year's pumpkin patch.
