The 58th annual St. Johns Parade comes to Portland streets on Saturday May 13th.

A staple of the St. Johns community since 1963, the parade is making a return to our (mostly) post-pandemic neighborhood. Not held since 2019, the St. Johns Parade is organized by community volunteers and is always free to attend. This year, Roosevelt leads the parade as it’s Grand Marshall. This is an exciting opportunity for students, parents, and alumni to get involved in the event and help celebrate the diversity and spirit of St. Johns.
Current entries include the Meadow Park and Jackson Middle School marching bands and the Rose City Model T Club, among others. Community involvement drives the parade, which is funded by local businesses, organizations, and community members. Roosevelt is getting involved in the parade as well, acting as the Grand Marshall for the St. Johns Parade.
Surrounding the parade will be the St. Johns Bizzare, a street festival with local businesses represented that provide local music, activities, and food to parade-goers after the parade concludes. Be sure to attend after the parade, it’s sure to be a fun way to support St. Johns neighborhood artists and small businesses.

The St. Johns Parade begins at 12:00 noon on May 13th, and will begin at the corner of St. Johns Park near James John school, and will snake through the neighborhood via Lombard before ending at the corner of Central and Burr near our very own Roosevelt High School. I look forward to attending the parade for the second time and supporting my neighborhood community along with other Roosevelt students.
