We once again are CRUSHING IT with our CAS Chess Club and are excited about our OBOB regional tournament results.Β At Benson High School, our middle school team did quite well despite competing against mainly older students.Β The elementary team was one of the last teams to qualify for the bracket round... but kept winning while there and was one of 3 teams out of 57 to MAKE STATE!!Β It took focus and determination and they nailed it.Β The state OBOB championships were April 11th at Chemeketa Community College in Salem!Β It was close, but we didn't make the Sweet 16 and look forward to next year. It was again an excellent affair, with tons of book lovers milling about and an author appearance from Wendy Mass, a huge name and OBOB author.Β All things OBOB (including the 2026-27 titles) can officially be found here.

Kleenex Boxes
Β I will always accept empty Kleenex boxes, no matter how many.Β They're put behind shelved books to keep them stationed on the front edge : )Β We called it "crisping" when I was in the bookstore world... easier for the customers to see the spines. Β

THE #1 THING YOU CAN DO DURING YOUR FREE TIME IS READ!Β READ ANYTHING-BOOKS ABOVE AND BELOW YOUR GRADE LEVEL, NEWSPAPERS, E-BOOKS, MAGAZINES, FOOD LABELS, LETTERS, AUDIO BOOKS, BILLBOARDS... AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS WHAT BOOKS YOU LIKE.Β SOMETIMES A GREAT BOOK NEEDS TO BE MENTIONED SEVERAL TIMES TO GET A NEW READER.Β

I went and saw "The Stranger" movie at The Living Room Theater recently, a movie based on Albert Camus's famous book (also on our shelves). Since it's a shorter classic, the whole plot fit very well into a film.Β Beautiful, thought-provoking and highly recommended.Β --Mr. S
