The 2026 Skyline World Cup Summer Read-Off ends August 31st! Any Skyline student or adult can enter. Your entry page is where you list what you've done. Finish all reading by the end of August and turn it into the library by Sept. 16th! Attach any form from any summer reading program, event or activity you did (bingo, book reports, author or bookstore events, World Cup book bracket, etc... optional... we'd love to see what you did). Parents: we'd welcome any prize donations (by mid September)! Extra Read-Off forms: World Cup Read-Off Bracket, Read-Off Bingo, 100 Alternatives to Watching TV, book report (review) form, Multnomah Country Summer Reading game board and info. Be like Spain and conquer the summer as a champion of reading! Email me with any questions: bsorensen@pps.net

6th-8th Graders: for 2026-27, we will be putting up the official 100 Essential YA Novels Scratch-Off poster in the library and giving out prizes when students read a book and scratch it off! Extra special prizes will be given for every 10th book scratched off and a middle school party will be held if all titles are read! More details soon. Let's go Eagles!

OBOB: we'd like to thank a very special parent group for supporting their kids and reading through weekly OBOB meetings, event support and promotion, and so much more... At Benson High School this past spring, our middle school team did quite well despite competing against mainly older students. The elementary team was one of the last teams to qualify for the bracket round... but kept winning while there and was one of 3 teams out of 57 to MAKE STATE!! It took focus and determination and they nailed it. The state OBOB championships were April 11th at Chemeketa Community College in Salem! It was close, but we didn't make the Sweet 16 and look forward to next year. It was again an excellent affair, with tons of book lovers milling about and an author appearance from Wendy Mass, a huge name and OBOB author. All things OBOB (including the 2026-27 titles) can officially be found here and special slide shows of the newest books also can be viewed from the link above.

Laika Wildwood Movie "Follow-the-Crows" Project... Send me pics!
30 gorgeous, giant art crows have been placed in a 3 1/2 mile area in Portland, all supporting Laika Studio's new stop-motion movie based on the novel Wildwood. Very Portland! This is an upper elementary book by Oregon's very own Colin Meloy, a member of the band The Decemberists. Take the tour or visit a bird or two and email in a picture! We'd love to feature pictures here and/or the yearbook, etc. Tour lasts through the end of October!
