🙂It's the Skyline Library Everyone!!!🤩

Happy 2024!

OREGON BATTLE OF THE BOOKS!!!

Congratulations to our elementary school champion team, the MACAWS, who finished 4th at the regional competitions out of more than 20 other teams!   We hope to have even more kids in OBOB next year!  Due to popular demand, the OBOB titles for 2024-25 are above😃.  Click on the box, then on the arrowed icon in the upper left to see the full list.

It's important to find books that are right for YOU.  Sometimes the search can take a while.  Books can be friends, too.  When you learn more about using a library, you can find good books, new sources, etc. that you won't find elsewhere.  You combine tech with the help of an actual person.  In times of need, we need our libraries.  Please keep your eyes out for new books in your Skyline library.  New titles will be introduced throughout the spring.

CAS (for all grades) Club for library in the 2nd-4th quarters will be Chess Club, so please feel very free to play others, play online, play in tournaments (see above!) and learn through books and websites in between Wednesday mornings.  As far as websites, the popular and super fun ChessKids is for the elementary level and Chess.com for everyone else.  Lichess is also excellent - turn on "Kids Mode" in settings to protect young players.  It's an especially good idea to do the PUZZLES.  Chess is a historic, international game!  I play a friend in Spain online, for example, and am also competing randomly against someone from India.  Board games are a great way to stay connected with someone or meet new friends.  Fun fact:  the first world champion in anything was in chess!  We've got some good chess books in the library, there's a nice selection at our public libraries and/or you can order them online.  Check out the interesting intro video from Kids Academy below!

See you soon.  --Mr. S
