I was born and raised in SW Portland, and graduated from what is now Ida B. Wells High School. After high school I headed to the midwest, and earned a BA in History and Secondary Education from North Park University in Chicago. I served as an Americorps volunteer at Woodlawn Elementary in NE Portland after college, then headed back to Chicago for a couple of years and began my career as a middle school teacher. The mountains and forests of Oregon eventually drew me back for good, and I spent 12 years teaching at a middle school in NE Portland before eventually heading to Lewis and Clark College for my Masters in School Counseling. Most recently, I was working as a counselor at Scappoose High School. I’m really excited to join the Lincoln community and to be working in PPS, the district where my journey in education began. I love working with students in a collaborative way, helping them navigate high school and put together a plan for their future.
Outside of work, I love riding my bike on gravel roads, camping, fishing, listening to music, watching Blazer games, and most importantly, spending time outside with my wife and two daughters.

I was born in Portland and raised on a carnival. My family owned a traveling carnival so my first jobs were twirling cotton candy and making corn dogs, managing the ski ball game and selling novelties during parades. During college I was a pizza delivery driver and a high school tennis coach.
I completed high school in Vancouver, Washington at Prairie High School. I earned my undergraduate degree at Washington State University (Go Cougs!) and my Master’s degree at Lewis and Clark College. I have been a counselor for 19 years and I have worked at all levels, preK – 12. I spent my first year as a counselor in Aberdeen, Washington split between two very different elementary schools. After a year in Aberdeen, I was offered a job in Hawaii! I moved to Hawaii two weeks after that and began working as a middle school counselor on the island of Oahu. I lived and worked in Hawaii for four years and then I decided to move home. Living on an island was great, but nothing beats the Pacific Northwest! When I moved home, I found a job at Franklin High School. This began my career in Portland Public Schools. After two years at Franklin, my position was cut and I was placed at two different schools; Creative Science School and Pioneer. Being half-time at two schools is very hard so after a year of that, I was very happy to be offered a job at Lincoln High School. I have been at Lincoln since August of 2010 and have loved every minute of it.
