Vertically integrated, thematically focused pathways provide a framework for students' individual classes and educational experiences to hang together. Whether industry, STEAM, or humanities-focused, a theme helps students make connections between disciplines, and provides opportunities to engage in authentic, inquiry-driven, interdisciplinary work.
WHS Pathway Outcomes:
Academic Preparation & Technical Skills Attainment: Pathways provide rigorous, industry-focused technical instruction and work-readiness preparation that integrates academics in a rigorous and relevant curriculum,
Engagement & Relevance: Pathways students receive real-world, industry relevant, hands-on learning experiences, both in the classroom and in the community where industry professionals share their skills and expertise to bring real-world authentic learning opportunities.
Alignment to postsecondary programs & industry recognized standards: Every Pathway Major aligns to a postsecondary program and informs clear student trajectories to certifications and degrees
Higher Graduation Rates: Since 2011, students who complete just one (1) credit in Career and Technical Education have graduated at an average rate of 88%. Graduation rate for PPS as a a district is 80.5%.
Certificate of Mastery: Complete 3+ sequenced courses offered within the Pathway’s Major (3.0 semester credits)
Graduation Cord: Pathway-specific cord for graduation
Work Experience: Every student participates in a personalized and coordinated continuum of work-based learning experiences designed to help them master and demonstrate academic and professional skills needed to be prepared for college and careers.
Portfolio of Achievement: Students will prepare a portfolio of accomplishments that demonstrate proficiency and focus within the student's chosen major.
