Learning Journey

Inspiration is a key component of the Innovation Equity Design Process. When addressing new or persistent challenges, there are likely people who’ve solved or attempted to solve a portion of a similar problem. Inspiration scouting sets the conditions for generative brainstorming by identifying a series of success stories or learning opportunities to get excited about. Your inspiration phase can range from a simple review of resources to immersive Learning Journeys.

Learning Journeys are experiences intended to activate all of the participant’s senses. They draw participants into introspection while also inciting inspiration before ideating [brainstorming] about potential solutions.

As we consider what the Center for Black Student Excellence (CBSE) could be and do, this microsite will serve as one form of inspiration. We invite you to think expansively about possibility and engage Black radical imagination. These are only some examples.

“If I can see it and believe it, then I can achieve it.”

What do you notice about the images? What emotions come through visually? What textures or histories are represented? How might we use these images as a jumping off point to think about the experiences we want to create through our CBSE.

Documents

In this section, you'll find primary source documents that give more insight into how others have approached aspects of Black student excellence. Think about what we might need to recreate, modify, or adapt for our CBSE.
