Film Submittal Criteria

Teachers must be the ones to submit and the deadline is March 1st, 2024

Film project must be from the 2023 calendar year. (Spring, Summer, and Fall Semesters)

Films do not have to be created by students for a class project but must be sponsored and submitted by a PPS HS Teacher.

Copyright-free material is preferred but is not required. 

All types of films are accepted. Awards are given to Best Narrative, Best Documentary/Journalism, and Best Animation/Music Video/Experimental 

No limit on video length though they may be shortened for screening.

What?

Since 2019, The Best of PPS Film Festival has featured films by students across Portland Public Schools. Hosted at the historic Hollywood Theatre and judged by a panel of industry insiders and professionals, the Best of PPS Film Fest is a night of celebration and creativity. Don't miss young filmmakers screen their work and jumpstart their careers–join us!

When?

May 30th, 2024, festival start at 7pm, but other events start at 5:30pm! ⏲️

5:30 - 6:30 PM: Attend the Film Pathways Fair to learn more about college & career options in film

6:30 - 7:00 PM: Grab concessions and find your seat! 

7:00 - 9:00 PM: Enjoy the Best of PPS Film Festival!
