About ASL Specialists' Role

As ASL Specialists, we offer American Sign Language (ASL) instruction and support tailored to meet diverse needs for Regionally Eligible students. Our services span multiple settings and initiatives:

• In-School Instruction: We provide ASL support directly within classrooms at the preschool, elementary, middle school, and high school levels.

• Home-Based Support: Our team conducts home visits to offer personalized ASL instruction, Deaf Culture Awareness, and assistance.

• Staff Collaboration: We offer dedicated, specialized support for CRIS staff in providing resources, curriculum & modifications, IFSP/IEP development.

• Community Engagement & Events: We host a variety of ASL events designed for students, families, and CRIS staff to foster community and learning.

• IEP Meeting Participation: When requested, we actively participate in IFSP/IEP meetings to ensure ASL-related needs are addressed.

• ASL Assessments: We conduct thorough expressive and receptive ASL assessments to inform IFSP/IEP development.

• Family & Community Resources: We organize regular ASL Family Nights for Regionally eligible students and families, held both in-person and via Zoom, and maintain a comprehensive ASL website for resources.
