Dr. Kilingaru I. Shivakumar obtained his Ph.D. in the area of Organic Charge Transfer Systems from the CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune, India. He pursued postdoctoral research at the Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland, and later at Hokkaido University, Japan, where he worked extensively on functional organic materials and supramolecular assemblies. In 2025, he joined the Materials Science and Catalysis Division at the Poornaprajna Institute of Scientific Research (PPISR) as an Assistant Professor.

His research interests lie at the intersection of organic synthesis, supramolecular chemistry, and materials science. He is particularly focused on the design and development of molecular assemblies and functional materials for next-generation electronics, spintronics, and sensing applications. His group also investigates porous materials—such as hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks and coordination polymers—for gas storage and selective molecular separation.
