Poway Unified Career Technical Education
Join passionate Career Technical Education teachers this summer to explore some of our award-winning career pathways and gain career-readiness skills this July!
Current PUSD middle and high school students will have the opportunity to apply hands-on skills in a small group setting. These free, enrichment opportunities will not receive credit towards high school graduation, but are excellent ways to learn more about our pathway offerings or continue developing your skills this summer.
Space is limited--sign up today! All courses will be held at Poway High School unless otherwise indicated.
2022 Summer Experiences at Poway High School
Digital Media
July 11th-July 15th
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
This five day experience for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will focus on introductory skills, exercises, and exciting media projects to add to a student's own personal YouTube channel to share to the global community.
Students will work with industry-standard equipment (iMac computers with Final Cut Pro, Garageband and Logic Pro, along with professional film and audio recording gear). Our CTE instructors have over 25 years of media experience and will lead students in five fun-filled days of media and music creation!
No previous experience required!
Construction Tech
July 11th-July 29th
8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Builders Boot Camp is a CTE Construction Course that prepares high school students for the practical aspects of construction work and combines classroom study with hands-on instruction in using tools, handling materials, and jobsite safety. Gain confidence in building trade skills, including home remodeling and repair, by participating in the building of PUSD’s second Tiny Home.
Complete your OSHA safety certification in this course and prepare to work in the construction trades.
No previous experience required!
auto Tech
July 18th-July 29th
8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
If you are interested in Automotive Technology, you’re in luck! PUSD will offer a 2-week session (up to 6 hours of lab time per day!) this summer. This enrichment session will focus on lab-based instruction. High school students will have a chance to use industry-standard tools, automotive lifts, and safety equipment to perform maintenance and light repairs in our ASE-certified shop.
Students may choose to attend the morning session (8-11), the afternoon session (11-2), or the full day (8-2).
No previous experience required!
2022 Virtual Summer Experience
Career Readiness
July 11th-22nd
Virtual meetings Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays--2:30-3:15 p.m.
Additional projects will be assigned as independent study.
Our online Career Readiness course provides high school students with an opportunity to explore post-high school options in a variety of career options. During this summer virtual course, students will identify their interests and skills, how they connect to career paths, and the education and training required to succeed in a field of their choice!
