Welcome to the beta version of the J-PAL Survey Bank! Its goal is to make the survey instruments used across J-PAL projects more findable and usable by staff and researchers in the network. It contains two parts:
A project-level database:
Each row is a J-PAL project that has available survey instruments.
You can filter by fields like Country, Year, Respondent Type, and Module; click the ⊕ See more to expand the row and see information on each of the instruments available for that project.
Use this if you want quick access to full instruments used in projects fitting your criteria.
The questionnaires and modules available in the database reflect the projects that we have imported thus far. As we continue importing projects, additional modules will become available.
The Copy and CSV buttons allow you to copy and export project information based on the filters you have selected.
Please note that some questionnaire links are currently unavailable due to a bug (fix in progress). You can access those questionnaires by searching for the file name or project on the J-PAL Dataverse.
Find the database below!
A question-level database:
Each row is a question from one of the survey instruments found in the project-level database.
You can filter by fields like the language of the question, the broad topic of the question, the respondent type, and more. There are two search boxes, one for a strict search that only returns questions that have the search term in them, as well as one for an AI-powered fuzzy search that allows you to search by similarity of underlying concept.
Click the ⊕ to expand the row and see information on the question's answer choices, its place in the survey, and broad information on the question's project and survey instrument.
Use this if you want to get motivation for specific questions within a topic, or explore how other projects have asked similar questions.
Access the database here.
