The music classroom should be a nurturing environment full of collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving and should include meaningful experiences that are relevant to students’ lives. The use of creative musical technologies help students successfully navigate their lives with meaningful connections and the habits of mind they develop in the classroom.

This curriculum rests on the idea that students learn best by actively engaging in activities that they find interesting and meaningful. Making the music classroom a place where students collaborate and create things of their own interest remains a foundational element to this curriculum. This curriculum’s philosophy states that all students bring their own individuality to the classroom and that the teacher must embrace those individualities, interests and skills in order to create a nurturing and inspiring environment.
