Online Learning: Canvas/SeeSaw

While students are online, teachers can assist students in a sequence of lessons. This will allow for increased personalized learning for students, enabling them to progress and receive more targeted interventions. Thoughtful consideration and review of the features of the LMS and audio/video enable students in remote settings to be successful with participating in online learning, completing activities independently, and engaging in classroom projects and participation.

Teachers will work with horizontal and vertical teams to adapt lessons and assignments from adopted materials. Lessons will be posted in SeeSaw (PK-3) and Canvas (4-12).

Seesaw is the new learning platform for PK-3rd grade PISD students. Seesaw allows them to interact during classes, actively engage in assignments, take quizzes, collaborate with peers, communicate with teachers, and more. It is a student-driven digital portfolio that inspires students to do their best work. Students express themselves, reflect on their learning and create a portfolio they're proud to show others. Seesaw will enable us to shift to fully virtual instruction if additional school closures are required. Seesaw will be for every student, every day regardless of his or her selected mode of instruction. Face-to-face students will participate in blended learning through the system while fully remote students will be able to access all coursework. Seesaw provides teachers, parents and administrators an instant overview of what students are learning, progress towards standards, and real-time data to measure family engagement.

Canvas is the new learning platform for 4th -12th grade PISD students. It allows them to interact during classes, actively engage in assignments, take quizzes, collaborate with peers, communicate with teachers, and more. All courses are to be housed in Canvas. This includes core content, as well as electives and specialized courses. This will enable us to shift to fully virtual instruction if additional school closures are required. Canvas will be for every student, every day regardless of his or her selected mode of instruction. Face-to-face students will participate in blended learning through the system while fully remote students will be able to access all coursework. Teachers will be able to host their lessons via Google meets and house them in Canvas as well as document attendance, assignments and all communication to students and parents.
