WHAT DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF MY OKLAHOMA ICAP GRADUATION PLAN?

1. Get to work on your Career and Academic Plan by creating a NEW ACCOUNT or logging into your EXISTING ACCOUNT on OKCareerGuide.org.

2. Complete the 3 ASSESSMENTS on OKCareerGuide.org: 1) Career Interest, 2) Skills Confidence, and 3) Super's Work Values Inventory.

3. Set Academic and Career GOALS on OKCareerGuide.org.

4. Create your RESUME, COVER LETTER, & REFERENCES on OKCareerguide.org.

5. Complete your EDUCATION PLAN on OKCareerGuide.org.

6. Participate in a WORK-BASED LEARNING EVENT arranged with your school ICAP Coordinator: Internship, Job Shadow, Part-time Job, Career Conference, or Service-Learning.

Step #1 - Create your OKCareerGuide.org account or open your existing account. Please use your "first name.lastname" as your Username. Simply use your "student id#" as your Password. For an existing account, make sure each new school year you go to your "Settings" and update your "Grade" and make sure your school is set to "Poteau High School". On the left side of your "Home" screen is your "Main Menu" with all your available options to explore and create. On the right side is a helpful "Task List" that is self-paced; as you complete each task you can check the box.

Step #2 - Complete 3 Assessments: Simple questions based on your interest, skills confidence, and work values. OkCareerGuide.org is based on 16 different National Career Clusters (a cluster is a group of careers that share common features). Upon completion of these three assessments, you will immediately be provided with your top five career pathways based on your responses. Clicking on these pathways takes you to a whole host of information and videos to explore. Check out job descriptions, education needed, skills, and salary.

Step #3 - Set Academic & Career Goals: Go back to Home page. Scroll down the Main Menu on the left side of your screen to "My Goals". You will need to create at least three goals. You may create as many as you like. Click on "Add Goal" and continue to fill in the blanks. Identify your "Goal Type" and "Goal Category". Make sure you click on the green "Save" when you are finished.

Step #4 - Create a Resume, Cover Letter, & References: Go back to Home page. Scroll down the Main Menu on the left side of your screen to "My Job Research Tools". These tools are very "user-friendly". Just fill in the blanks to create your resume, cover letter, and references.

Step #5 - Complete your Education Plan: Go back to Home Page. Scroll down the Main Menu on the left side of your screen to "My Ed Plans". Fill in the appropriate blanks and click on "Create Plan". You will click on the plus sign (+)courses for each grade that you have completed or you are currently taking. This keeps a record of your courses and credits to help you stay on track for graduation.

Step #6 - Work Based Learning Event - All students must complete a "WBL". A work based learning event connects students to the workplace to prepare them for real-world careers. Examples of events include: job shadows, internships, career conferences, and service-work projects. These type of projects help students develop their employability.
