About Rich

Rich's 32-year career in the corporate world started as a graduate Electrical and Control Engineer working on major steel rolling projects, but he quickly started to take on leadership responsibility.  He's led engineering teams, major projects, business improvement programs, and, more latterly, businesses.  As a good all-rounder who was part of the HiPo programs at both Alstom and Nordex, he has a deep and practical understanding of sales and marketing, complex project delivery, service, product / service development, people management, organisational design, quality, HSE, sourcing and supply chain management, finance and financial control, commercial disputes, crisis management and many other aspects of business.  

His last roles in corporate life were with major wind turbine OEM Nordex - 4-years responsible for projects / construction in UK, Ireland and Scandinavia, and the latter 5-years as MD for the UK and Ireland (responsible for sales, delivery, service and a full P&L) - growing the fleet to over 2GW, driving profitability, and leading a dramatic improvement in HSE performance (winning RoSPA Gold Awards in each of his final 2 years).  This "wind OEM insider's view" of the wind market is a key asset in much of POSET-renew's work.

Another key informer of POSET-renew's work is Rich's 4-years leading Converteam's Service Business across many industries including offshore Oil and Gas ... and Rich's first exposure to the renewables industry, particularly Converteam's fully fed converters for Bonus / Siemens Wind, and the concepts for direct drive generators and converters for offshore wind.

Rich has worked internationally for most of his career - living in the US for two years in his 20s, for two years in Berlin, Germany, in his late 30s, and additionally working on major projects in UK, Ireland, Scandinavia, South Africa, India, South Korea and China.

Moving into consultancy and non-exec work has been a "lifestyle choice"  for Rich, allowing him to devote his working time to what he enjoys professionally, and allowing more time and energy for his other passions in life.  See Rich's LinkedIn Page and the "Journey to POSET-renew" story for more!
