The following focus on our military connected students but benefit all students:
Goal 1. Increase the science achievement of military-connected students.
Strategy 1. Train teachers to implement all three dimensions of NGSS to improve Science instruction as indicated by grade level NGSS 3D pre- and post-assessments.
Strategy 2. Use classroom observation, teacher reflection, modeled instruction, and reviews of student data throughout the year to improve instruction throughout the year and inform/revise future professional development.
Strategy 3. Increase student engagement and achievement in science with drones, environmental probeware, outdoor magnetic wall, outdoor classroom, gardening and agricultural connections.
Goal 2. Increase the percentage of military-connected K-8 students interested in STEAM careers.
Strategy 4. Engage students in real-world applications in their community by developing a scope and sequence for an embedded sustainable program using local non-profit organizations and connected with NGSS standards which will include at least one field trip per year for each grade’s NGSS theme.
Strategy 5. Create school wide after school STEAM programs, science nights and annual STEAM Festival to share student success with the community (4-H, Community Garden classes, Farm to Table).
