Protest Songs
I want everyone to know that I stand with you and everyone who fights racism and violence, systemic and otherwise. I grieve for George Floyd and the countless other victims of police brutality and societal violence against the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color community. Music has long been a way to express sadness, anger and frustration, and to push for change. I've made a Padlet where I've posted a few of my favorite protest songs, and where you can post your favorite and tell us a little bit about why it speaks to you, if you want. If your favorite songs aren't exactly school-appropriate (because of language, etc.), I still want to hear about them, so I'll be hosting a Zoom meeting next week in case you want to talk to me (or you can just say hi. I want to be here for you :). In the meantime, listen to the songs I put up and add some of your own if you want.
Sun School
Welcome to Sun School Everyone!!! For the next two weeks, I'm going to be posting one fun thing for you to explore every day, Monday-Thursday. We're starting by taking a musical journey!! The Global Jukebox is "a growing space to connect with our deep heritage through the expressive arts of singing, dancing, and conversing from around the world." You can click any of the dots on the map and hear traditional music from that part of the world. If you click on the top left, you'll find that there are "Journeys" you can take throughout the world. Chrome Music Lab Rhythm Experiment-This is part of Chrome Music Lab, which some of you have probably seen already, but it's just so cool and fun to play with these different rhythm machines that I wanted to make sure everyone was able to check them out. So check it out, and have fun!!

Okay, this week I've got something to match all the beautiful weather we've been having! We're going to use things you might see on a walk, hike, or if you look out the window to compose our own rhythms! Give it a whirl and have fun, and make sure you're getting lots of outside time!
