Maine Academy of Modern Music or MAMM is an organization that teaches kids how to play music. MAMM offers instrumental and vocal lessons, summer camps, and band groups with an instructor. There are locations in Portland and Bangor. MAMM is a great organization that helps kids connect and improve the musical skills and knowledge.

Midcoast School of Music is similar to MAMM. They offer lessons for drums, piano, guitar, bass, horns, and voice as well as classroom-style classes about music theory and improvisation. Midcoast also offers 8-12 week ensemble groups for students with similar musical interests to connect and play music together.

Chances are your school offers a band or chorus or orchestra opportunity or would be able to point you in the right direction to find one. Talk to a band instructor or guidance councilor and see what the options are.

PATHS offers a great music program where students are able to write music, record music, perform music, and learn about music theory. Students are able to perform 4 times a year!
