AVID
What is AVID?
Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is an in-school academic support program for 9th-12th. The program is based on the belief that if students are willing to work hard, they can be taught skills needed to take ownership of their own learning, to complete rigorous courses, and be prepared for high school and college.
The purpose of the program is to prepare students for college eligibility and success.
Students learn skills like note-taking, reading and writing strategies and how to interact with peers and work in groups. They can then practice those skills in more challenging courses, such as honors and Advanced Placement classes, that they may be required to take.
