Pioneer Families,
It is hard to believe, but we are already about one-third of the way through the first quarter! This is a great time for families to check Skyward for updated grades and review Google Classroom with your student each evening for assignments, announcements, and upcoming deadlines. If you have questions or notice an area of concern, please reach out to the teacher so we can work together to support your student.
We also encourage every Pioneer to find a way to get involved at West. Whether through an XTS club, athletics, music, leadership, or another school activity, getting connected helps students build relationships and strengthen their sense of belonging. Let's keep working together to make this a strong first quarter!

Celebrating learning, leadership & The West Way
Mrs. McDaniel & Mrs. DeGraff had students engage in a lab where they created rainbows! This activity put the scientific method in action and introduced our 6th grade Pioneers to science labs in middle school. Take a look at the pictures showing the scholars engaged, amazed, and enjoying discovery!
Even though it's only September, we're already looking forward to our annual 8th Grade Washington, DC trip June 15 - 19, 2027! This once-in-a-lifetime adventure allows students the opportunity to explore some of our nation's most important historical sites while enjoying unforgettable learning experiences. It will be a trip your child talks about for years to come!Β
We have two informational meetings coming up:
Tuesday, September 22 - Student Informational Meeting during XTS
Thursday, September 24 - Parent Informational Meeting at 6:00 p.m.
Join us to learn more about the Washington, DC experience, planned adventures, trip costs, payment-plan options, and more!
The fall season is off and running, and our Pioneers are representing West throughout the city and county! Our cheerleaders, cross-country runners, football players, and volleyball players continue to demonstrate The West Way both on and off the field of competition. Keep up the great work, Pioneers! Here are a few pictures from the season so far.
Families, please do not park in the designated accessible parking spaces during drop-off or pick-up unless you have the proper handicap parking credentials. Please be courteous and keep these spaces available for those who need them. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Bailey.
As a reminder, when dropping off your Pioneer(s):
Enter the school using the south entrance
Drive towards your Pioneer's grade drop off location
8th Grade - Furthest door in the drop off lane
7th Grade - 2nd furthest door in the drop off lane
6th Grade - Main entrance
Doors open at 7:20 a.m.
Note: The right lane is for dropping off only. The left lane is for finding a spot to drop-off or leaving only. Please use your blinker and do not drive forward in the drop off lane.
