Next PTSO Meeting- Wednesday, November 18th 11:30 AM

This meeting will be virtual. If you would like to attend please fill out this form so the Zoom link can be emailed to you.

The Parent Teacher Service Organization (PTSO) at West Middle School strives to keep parents informed and involved with middle school news and activities.

Although the current pandemic does not allow us to conduct "business as usual," we are still hard at work trying to provide you, our WMS families, with the important information that you may be looking for. Also, in the event that we are able to return to school AND hold events as we have traditionally, we would like to be prepared! If you would like to volunteer please fill out this form and select the activities that you would be interested in. Please understand that there are no guarantees and that all activities listed below are "TBD." They may or may not happen. Any and all decisions regarding the listed activities below will be made as the situation evolves. We are all hoping for the best.

Additionally, until further notice, all WMS PTSO meetings will be held virtually. And although this does not allow us the personal one-on-one format that we would all prefer, they are still a good source of information. We are currently scheduled to have three meetings per semester. First semester meetings will be held in September, October & November 2020. Second semester meetings are currently scheduled for February, April & May 2021. Dates and times are TBD. Keep an eye on the announcements for updated information on meeting dates and times. If you have questions please email Kristin Falk at kristinfalk11@gmail.com.

As mentioned above, throughout the year there will be opportunities to volunteer your time or donate items for specific events such as staff appreciation. Your help with these events is always appreciated. We can only exist with the generous donations of our parents' time, talents, and funds. Thank you for your consideration

Portage Central High School NHS -

Offering Virtual Tutoring

"My name is Aidan Eichman, and I am a senior at Portage Central High School. Currently, I am a National Honor Society Officer as well as the tutoring leader for Portage Central's NHS Chapter. In an effort to extend our reach to elementary, middle, and high schools in Portage, our chapter has started an online tutoring program. I have gathered a group of around 20 highly-motivated, friendly, and responsible NHS members (and fellow peers at PCHS) to tutor students online. When a student/parent requests a tutoring session, he or she will have the ability to determine the best time, preferred tutor traits, and subjects for tutoring. With a diverse group of interests among the tutors, each student's subject needs should be able to be met. Each session will last 30 minutes and will be held on either Zoom.us or Google Meets (determined via communication between tutor and student/parent). As we enter the upcoming months in online learning, our chapter sees online tutoring as a crucial part of students' educational and personal growth. Our mission is both to ease the difficulty of keeping up in online learning and to provide another smiling face for students around Portage to interact with. We would be more than excited to guide you in your educational pursuits. Students/parents wanting to begin a tutoring session or those who have questions can email aidan.eichman@portageps.org or aidan.eichman@gmail.com for more information."
