Pioneer Families,
There has been no shortage of Pioneer spirit around West lately! Whether students are competing in our first Bead Battle, representing West in fall athletics, choosing their Friday XTS Clubs, or finding new ways to get involved after school, our Pioneers are making the most of their middle school experience.
As we move further in the quarter, this is also a great time to check in on your student's progress. Take a few minutes to review Skyward together, talk about how things are going, and encourage them to reach out to their teachers when they need support.
There's a lot to be proud of and plenty more ahead. Keep getting involved, keep stretching, and keep making the most of the year, Pioneers!

Celebrating learning, leadership & The West Way
Achievement + Belonging are at the heart of our continuous improvement work this year. See what we're focused on, how we're doing the work and how we'll measure our progress.
Last Friday, we held our first West Bead Battle!
Each student received one necklace and had opportunities to challenge classmates—and even staff members—to games of Rock, Paper, Scissors between classes and during lunch.
At the end of the day, the students with the most beads advanced to the final competition in the gym during XTS. The student champion then challenged Mr. Bailey for his necklace—and won! Students watched the final battle on Google Meet and cheered for our champion as he returned to class.
Congratulations to Augustus, our first West Bead Battle champion, and to all the Pioneers who participated!
Even though it's only September, we're already looking forward to our annual 8th Grade Washington, DC trip June 15 - 19, 2027! This once-in-a-lifetime adventure allows students the opportunity to explore some of our nation's most important historical sites while enjoying unforgettable learning experiences. It will be a trip your child talks about for years to come!
