I graduated from Western Michigan University's School of Education with a BA in Political Science in 2006. In 2017 I earned my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. This will be my second year teaching at Portage Northern. Before joining the Huskie pack, I worked as a teacher, instructional coach, and assistant principal at Battle Creek Central High School.
I still get a kick out of learning new things and love helping young people develop a lifelong love for learning. Right now I am really interested in learning more about playing Bridge and the 2024 Election.
My wife Rachel and I have been together since 2004, married in 2008, and have 2 kids, Carter and Eleanor. Rachel works at Kalamazoo College. Carter likes watching baseball highlights and playing wiffle ball with the neighbors. Ellie is now 6, so she likes having books read to her and running.
If you ever are looking for a good political discussion, come find me. In the past I have volunteered on a few campaigns and one of my bucket list items is to either be a member of the Electoral College or help pass a constitutional amendment abolishing the Electoral College.
In my spare time, I love running, playing baseball, and playing board games. In 2021, I set a goal an exceeded it by running a 1:31:55 half-marathon! Now all I have to do is run another 13.1 miles in 28 minutes and I will catch Eliud Kipchoge.
