By 2030 we will be the top modern university in the UK and one of the top 100 young universities in the world. That is our bold Vision. Naturally we can't get there in one leap. Here, we set out our Strategy for the next five years - what we need to do by 2025 to be on course to make our Vision a reality.
Both our Vision and Strategy are ambitious - and with good reason.
Having overcome some of the most complex business continuity challenges ever faced by the University over the last 18 months, neither UEB or the Board of Governors want to back away from our vision. Indeed recommitting ourselves to our vision, of being the UK’s top modern university and one of the top 100 young universities in the world, is no more than you and our students deserve.
However, whilst we seek to maintain this commitment, we face some immediate challenges that must be addressed over the next couple of years to provide the firm foundations from which we can seek to realise our vision. Therefore we have challenged and committed the entire University to address our four strategic imperatives:
Recruitment: Reverse the ongoing decline in applications and boost conversions
Student experience: Pursue educational excellence, improve student experience and reduce variation in outcomes
Graduate employment: Rapidly improve graduate employment
Research and innovation: Increase our globally recognised research and innovation based on thematic areas, prioritising collaboration and international engagement.
UEB has approved four more detailed strategies to provide clarity on what we need to do to deliver our strategic imperatives and our overall Strategy 2025, and to ensure we are on course to achieve our 2030 Vision.
Our success depends on the capabilities and drive of our community of staff. We will encourage their creativity and innovation, and foster a culture where people feel passionate about being part of this vision. By 2025 we will:
