Application Process

Applications should be submitted via the online form HERE. There will be one applicaiton round per year. Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed by a multi-professional panel using a standardised interview process. Applications will be assessed against the following criteria (further details in the below guidance document): 1. Alignment with MRC Remit; 2. Career Development Rationale; 3. Research Quality and Feasibility; 4. Research Environment and Mentorship; 5. Deliverable Outputs; 6. Employer Commitment; 7. Future Career Trajectory.

Before You Submit

Please ensure that you have:

✅ Demonstrated clear alignment with MRC-focused discovery or early translational research.

✅ Presented a realistic and feasible plan identifying measurable outcomes.

✅ Completed all application sections.

✅ Obtained required approvals and sign off from your employing organisation.

✅ Attached all requested supporting documents.

✅ Clearly addressed the assessment criteria.

✅ Demonstrated how the SECAP award will support your future clinical academic career.
