This session presents two examples of enhancing existing assessment components used in modules from completely different disciplines. It discusses taking static, case-based briefs and turning them into more authentic, real-time, real-world tasks. The first proposed new assessment task promotes continuous student engagement with the module-wide participation of an industry mentor. This emphasises employability and critical thinking. The second example incorporates the constructive and critical use of AI tools. It aims to transform the disruptive and even unethical use of ChatGPT and Gemini into a more constructive tool, through the students engaging critically with the content produced.
Additionally, both examples provide good opportunities for building formative assessment into their design. The discussion will include both insights into the specifics of the new London campus approach and also learning of wider, more generalisable relevance.
