Session Outline:
The Business and Law (BaL) Faculty Parent Learners Network Initiative was designed to facilitate a supportive and inclusive community for our adult learners who navigate the challenges of balancing education with work and family responsibilities. Recognising these unique pressures, the initiative developed a dedicated information hub and hosts monthly connection meetings focused on topics relevant to parent learners.
Currently, the BaL Faculty has identified 60 undergraduate parent learners, though initial engagement has been a challenge - potentially constrained by time or perhaps feel disconnected from such initiatives. However, feedback from those who have attended suggests they find the sessions refreshing and valuable, appreciating the space where their challenges are acknowledged and often immediate support from facilitators. By creating an inclusive environment that values shared experiences and diverse perspectives, the initiative seeks to empower parent learners to lead the group, thrive academically while maintaining a healthy work-life-study balance.
