Following reaccreditation, we needed to create a Moodle page for a 120 credits module and recognised the importance of student involvement in shaping their learning experience. We adopted a collaborative and student-centric approach to create the page:
Initial involvement: We engaged with students about creating a workable/easy to navigate Moodle page. Their opinions/ideas were invaluable to help us understand expectations and preferences for the page.
Gathering feedback: We conducted open discussions, gathering feedback on the existing Moodle pages, and suggestions for improvements. Valuable insights were provided, highlighting the importance of content organisation, interactive tools and consistency.
Actioning feedback: Based on their feedback, we collaborated with the SAH Faculty learning technologists to implement their suggestions e.g. restructuring content, incorporating weekly quizzes and clear labelling.
Second round of feedback: After the changes were made, we sought further student feedback to enable us to fine-tune the page based on their requirements.
Feedback of final version: we implemented the changes, recorded a short video and shared this with all students for further feedback, which was positive.
Launch and continuous improvement: collaborating and co-designing the page has been invaluable. We launch it in September 2023 and will encourage feedback from students to identify ongoing improvements.
Actively involving students, actioning feedback and seeking continuous input, ensures the page becomes a dynamic and student-friendly platform to cater to their learning needs. This student-centric approach will foster positive learning experiences and reinforce our commitment to empowering our students in shaping their education.
