This introductory session is aimed at early career lecturers and those who are new to the University.
Assessment and feedback is the backbone of good teaching in Higher Education. It is important prior to the start of any module that the assessment journey that your students will experience is considered and well designed.
This workshop will walk you through this process as an aid to teaching. It will begin by covering the grounding of best practice, in assessment and feedback, starting with the principle base for this and what the research tells us. We will look at the University's Assessment for Learning Policy and what this means for your assessment approach. You will then be invited to consider how you will run your module assessment and how to best support students with their work. We will look at the art of writing good feedback, examine the different types of feedback that students receive and how they can be helped to make use of it.
By the end of the session you will gain confidence that your assessment will work and your feedback will be of a high standard.
