In 2020-21 academic session, the majority of teaching was delivered online as a blend of synchronous (live instructor-led sessions) and asynchronous (recorded, pre-prepared student-led) activities. As this approach underpinned our delivery university-wide, students generally accepted it, and (on the whole) enjoyed it. It may be very different in 2021-22, however, with students expecting a more integrated experience. If we are to continue some aspects of blended learning, it will have to be of the highest quality, and clearly framed as an enhancement to learning, rather than as a tool that we are forced to use.
Session Aims
The aim of this workshop is to:
Discuss synchronous (online) teaching, and share best practice from 2021-22
Identify challenges in delivery and engagement we will face as learning returns to classroom
Decide how best to maximize engagement, experience and pedagogical potential
