Are you frustrated that students don’t access or read their written feedback?
Do you think that your students value the grade more than the feedback they receive?
Would you like to spend less time giving feedback whilst increasing student engagement?
If so - this is the session for you.
In the workshop you will be introduced to an evidence based toolkit entitled Developing Student’s Engagement with Feedback (DEFT) and learn how the university has implemented this model. Based on research conducted into how students learn, this approach to increasing engagement with feedback promises to transform the way your students view and use the feedback you provide them with.
The toolkit takes the burden away from lecturers providing more and more written feedback and places the emphasis on what students do with the feedback they receive. It’s about student action; they are encouraged to take ownership of the feedback they get, from different sources and action plan accordingly using a set of useful tools.
By the end of the session you will have a handy toolkit of ready made activities and techniques to ensure that your carefully written feedback is read, acted upon and understood by your students.
