Non-Police Investigator Research Project

Professor Mark Button from the University of Portsmouth in partnership with Dr Peter Stiernstedt from the University of West London are conducting research on non-police investigators. The study aims to understand the background of non-police investigators, the types of investigations they engage in, the tools and strategies they use and their views on some important issues such as regulation and privatization. The research has been approved by the University of Portsmouth Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Ethics Committee (Reference FHSS 2020-044).

As part of this research we would like non-police investigators to complete the online survey below. All data supplied is anonymous and it is not possible for us to identify who completed the project, unless you actually write your name. When the research is complete we will publish the results which if you follow this website or register below you will get access to when ready.

If you have any queries about the project please contact us at mark.button@port.ac.uk or peter.stiernstedt@uwl.ac.uk

Please note this research is not being funded by any organisation.
