WHY ASM?
In a nutshell, the ASM provides practitioners with a framework to think about skilful movement across the lifespan, encompassing elite sport, physical literacy and developmental perspectives. More specifically, the model aims to support the design and plan of structured programmes that focus on developing versatile movers in a non-linear way. The scientific evidence underpinning ASM highlights how optimal performance, development and improved health and well-being can be achieved via a holistic non-linear multi-skills approach resulting in:
Improved motor skills and levels of motor creativity
Fewer injuries, stress, and burnout
More fun and engagement during sports activity
Better performance and psychosocial skill
The ASM consists of 3 building blocks

These building blocks are combined via the ASM continuum resulting in transfer of learning and underpinned by motor learning scientific evidence (constraints-led approach, non-linear pedagogy, ecological dynamics, physical literacy and implicit learning).
