The Port-Eco House is a fully instrumented 3-bedroom residential house providing a realistic environment for research, prototype development, experimentation, and data collection. The house provides networking and mains power connections around each room perimeter, allowing for installation of sensor devices in various locations. There is also internal secure wireless network. The house is connected to a 5kW solar photovoltaics installation and has internal 13.5kWh battery storage facility. The central heating system is also equipped with individually adjusted temperature sensing thermostatic valves to provide room-by-room heating control. Data processing can take advantage of an IBM PowerAI Vision platform in the School of Computing. Through one of its industrial partners, we have access to a real-world evaluation environment of a modular housing-with-care facility designed to provide supported living.
