November 7, 2023

Homework this evening:

Spelling

I gave the students their new spelling lists yesterday. Because of the abbreviated week we are planning to have our test on Thursday. Students should account for this by studying a bit more each night this week.

Reading

Chapters 13 & 14 of Harriet the Spy should be read by Friday. The first journal entry for these chapters is due tomorrow. Students should read a portion of the assigned reading and produce an entry.

*Reminder* Journal entries should only be a few sentences long!

Also:

The class had a negative reaction to the news of homework being assigned today. There were several complaints that the assigned work would be too much in combination with extracurricular activities and other obligations. Students must understand that schoolwork will always take priority over anything not related to family or health. If they truly feel there is too much on their plate I suggest having a conversation about whether or not they should be enrolled in extracurricular activities. Thank you for your assistance in getting this point across.
