Welcome to Pope John XXIII, Science classroom!

My name is Dr. Anuj Chopra. I am pleased to be a part of the Pope John XXIII family. I have 15 years of experience in teaching sciences and STEM subjects in different settings. I have participated in lab teaching courses in one of India’s premiere institutes known as Indian Institute of Technology Madras. During my son’s home training and teaching, I developed more passion and affinity in teaching science to young minds. I found it gratifying to teach core concepts through some basic experiments and observations. Teaching Sciences to middle and high school students at Connect My Tutor platform made me  a proficient teacher. Additionally, being a substitute teacher at various District 65  schools further enriched my experience as a teacher. I am a firm believer of diversity and in the holistic education approach to prepare young students for future challenges. For this, I believe in equal  emphasis on  mental, physical and spiritual growth. 

I received my Bachelor's degree in Sciences from the Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. I pursued my Master's in Physics from Dayalbagh University, Agra; and my Ph.D in Physics from Max-Planck Institute of Sciences, Germany. Working in various international research labs provided me ample opportunities to publish more than 20 highly cited peer reviewed research journals, along with contributions to various book chapters.

I live in Evanston with my wife, Divya and my 6 years old son, Advik. My son is in 1st grade and my wife is a research assistant professor at Northwestern University. We feel blessed to be part of Evanston's warm hospitality and diversity. In my spare time, I love to teach my son, take him to the beach and read him story books at home.

I am looking forward to serving at Pope John XXIII. I find the Principal's team and staff very welcoming, kind and caring. The opportunity to teach your child is a privilege and responsibility. I want to assure you that I take it very seriously. If students need extra help, they just need to ask me. As a science class, we are focused on learning through experiments, discussions and designing various projects. Kindly visit our classroom for more information.
