Absences
When a student is absent, class materials from the day will be compiled to give to the student on the next available school day. Please try to schedule pre-planned absences for travel, family events, etc. around the school schedule to not put too much make-up work on your child’s plate. Make sure to call in your absences to the office.
Grading
The school year is divided into three trimesters. Formal grades for each trimester appear on the report card. Grades will be updated on PowerSchool Grade Book as they become available. Parents will be notified if there is any concern with their student falling behind or achieving a disappointing final grade. The grading scale is as follows:

Homework
Students should expect to have homework throughout the week. Homework is expected to be completed to the best of the student’s abilities by the due date specified by the teacher. Late or forgotten homework is encouraged to be submitted as soon as possible to avoid falling behind. If a student develops poor discipline with homework their parents/guardians will be contacted to develop a plan to get back on track. Homework is not meant to be a stressor to students. It will consist of review material and long-term assignments like book reports and projects.
A planner will be provided for each student to keep track of their homework. In addition, the class website will be updated as often as possible with homework assignments in the event of a student misplacing their work.
Snacks and Water Bottles
Students are allowed snacks each morning. Good snack options are fruit, vegetables, crackers, string cheese, or pretzels. No warm or messy foods. Snack is not meant to be a full entree or replace breakfast. A refillable water bottle is encouraged for students to keep near their seat. They will have time to refill their bottle during throughout the day.
