Pony Axe S

Scotland

Pony Axe S Scotland is the result of three discoveries.

I discovered I could build safe, pony powered vehicles that would let anyone, in any wheelchair, (or none) explore any countryside.

Axe S, or Access is what really matters.

I discovered that Scotland WANTS people to enjoy their countryside, and have enshrined the principle in their legal system. Obama, (my pony) and I, and Pony Axe S became Scottish on the spot. Pony Axe S Scotland celebrates this partnership.

Ponies are the best power source for the job. I get unbeatable traction, incredible levels of torque at zero rpm, stump pullling power in an eco friendly, and child friendly package.

We take anyone, in any wheelchair, or none, anywhere.

PAMIS have been brilliantly supportive, bringing us to Pollok Park for our first session in Scotland.

Scottish Natural Heritage brought us to Forvie, as seen above, St Cyrus NNR, Muir of Dinnet NNR and Glen Tanar NNR, all beautiful in different ways.

We have been welcomed taking people who use wheelchairs onto so many beaches in Scoltand. Prestwick, Ayr, Irvine, Fairlie, Ardrossan, Portobello, West Sands, St. Andrews, Broughty Ferry, Tentsmuir, St. Cyrus, Lunan Bay, Balmedie and Newburgh to name a few.

We have been welcomed taking people who use wheelchairs round the grounds at Pollok Park, Callander Park, Dalziel Park, Duthie Park, Robertson Park, Renfrew, Ravenscraig, Glasgow Green and Chatelherault , again to name just a few.

Scotland has welcomed Pony Axe S, so we exclude nobody, and we go everywhere, helping Scottish Natural Heritage #ConnectingPeopleAndNature and getting all the people who can't get outdoors, and cross country, to do so.

Safety

I invented and developed the first Emergency Stop Control for horse drawn vehicles in 2005, which I developed with Lancaster University Product Development Unit over 2005/6. This makes our vehicles PUWER 1998 compliant specifically with regulation 16 which requires all work equipment that can have such controls, and which would benefit from such controls, to have an Emergency Stop Control.

We comply with all other PUWER 1998 requirements which makes our new Risk Assessment nice and simple.

Kingston University Engineering Department have also been helpful and supportive analysing chassis structure and integrity, stablity and the Emergnecy Stop Control.

Over 8 years working with vulnerable people using the full range of wheelchairs, or none, with the full range of behavioural and educational issues, we are accident free and fully intend to get even safer.

This video shows the Emergency Stop Control in use at Broughty Ferry.

These videos show us working with the Care Inspectorate and Scottish Natural Heritage. The photo at the bottom is on the beautiful beach at St Cyrus. One man, who Obama and I took there, hadn't been on a beach since 1974.

That explains why I care passionately about Pony Axe S Scotland. I cannot imagine not visiting a beach for 44 years. I want to ensure I can still get on the beach, or into the countryside, till the day I die. The motivation may be selfish, the results are magical.
