Today we are learning about area.
Area calculates the total square units needed to cover a shape or space.
We calculate area by multiplying the length times the width.
Area of a Square/ Rectangle: L x W
Area is measured in m² (square metres), cm², inches², km² etc.
When you calculate the area you must always put the measurement squared. You can do this by writing the type of measurement then adding a small 2 to the top right hand side of your answer. e.g : 12m²
We will look at triangles and other irregular shapes at a later date.

LI: We are learning to calculate the area and perimeter of a shape.
Your task is to create a floor plan of your dream home, you must provide the area and perimeter of each room as well as the total of the house. You may also want to add in some landscaping and design an outdoor area.
Try to use shapes to scale (or as close too) for example: 1 square = 1 meter.
