Dear Families,
Please ask your child...
To tell you what we celebrate in September/October? (National Hispanic Heritage Month; we will continue to talk about “why” we celebrate)
To tell you the country we are studying. (Mexico)
To tell you what culture means (Culture is the special things we do, believe, and celebrate in our families and communities. It includes the way we eat, the clothes we wear, the holidays we celebrate, and the stories we tell.)
To tell you what a cycle is (A cycle repeats—it doesn’t change. It always follows the same steps in the same order.)
To tell you about the seasons cycle we’ve learned about
To tell you why the seasons change (the earth orbits around the sun)
To tell you how long it takes the earth to make one trip around the sun
To tell you in which season the days are shorter/longer
To tell you what the equator is (an imaginary line that divides the earth in half)
To share the emotion word they created after reading I Am Happy Sad Today (e.g., “shappy” for sad + happy).
To show you the flora they made for the letter “f”
To tell and show you the sounds and motions for the letters “i” and “u”
To show you how to write the lowercase letters “i” and “u”
To tell/show you how to tap out our sight words or trick words we learned (and)
To “read” their letter mini books to you or their siblings (use their pointer power by pointing to each word)
To tell and/or show you the direction of horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines
To point out patterns they notice with horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines
To tell you about why it’s important to have and show manners, especially when eating
To tell you some table manners
To tell you their rose, bud, and thorn for the week
Have a great week!
Kim and Emily
