Animal Science 2 Small Animal

Course Description

This course provides instruction on animal husbandry topics related to small animals that are served by a veterinarian. Content related to the breeding, grooming, care and marketing of animals that fit into this category will be covered through this course. Opportunities for students to gain hands‐on experience will be included in the course and reinforced through work‐based learning and leadership experiences.

Work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course are apprenticeship, cooperative education, entrepreneurship, internship, mentor-ship, school-based enterprise, service learning, job shadowing, and supervised agricultural experience. Supervised Agricultural Experience programs and FFA leadership activities are INTEGRAL components of the course and provide many opportunities for practical application of instructional competencies.

FFA competitive events, community service, and leadership activities provide the opportunity to apply essential standards and workplace readiness skills through authentic experiences.

*There will be very few to no homework in this class, except on days before a test. Students should finish their study guides and study for the exam on the evening before their test.
