My name is Tonya Wilson, and I was born and raised in Cave Spring, Georgia where I currently live with my husband, James, and my youngest two children, Jaly (16) and Jaxx (9). My oldest daughter, Jade (30), lives is Mississippi with her husband, Corey, and my three granddaughters, Adilyn (10), Aubrielle (8), and EhvieJo (2). Corey is in the Navy. My son, John (27), is in the Air Force and lives in Warner Robins, GA with his wife Alie and my granddaughter, Amelia (1). They are expecting my 5th granddaughter My middle daughter, Jaci (21), lives in Rome and is beginning nursing school. I am definitely a family person and love my children and grandchildren with my entire being.
I come from a long line of educators. At a young age, I knew it was my passion to become a teacher. My father has always and will always be my role model and my hero. He was a teacher, assistant principal, and principal at Cave Spring Elementary until his retirement in 1992. He was respected by every student and teacher that crossed his path. He gave 110% to everyone, and I vow to follow in his footsteps.
I received my associates degree from Floyd College and transferred to Shorter College where I earned a bachelors degree in Middle Grades Math and Language Arts. I later returned to Jacksonville State University to receive my Master's and Specialist in Leadership. I am beginning my 20th year in PSD. I taught 16 years in 5th grade ELA. This is my 4th year teaching 3rd-5th EIP Reading.
I love each and every child that I get the opportunity to work with each year. It is a love and passion that never grows old. To be able to help a child is a reward and blessing that I look forward to each day!!
