9th Grade Literature and Composition
This course is designed to transition students from middle school reading and language arts to the rigorous expectations of a high school English classroom by focusing on the study of literature, writing, vocabulary, and communication skills,Students will read short stories, novels, drama and poetry, emphasizing the distinct elements and analysis of each type of literature, Additionally, students will draft a variety of writing samples in order to demonstrate a mastery of material.
Grading Scale
Assessments . . . 60%
Classwork/Homework . . . 20%
Midterm /Final . . . 20%
ATTENDANCE POLICY
* Students may lose credit for any classes in which absences exceed seven absences in a semester!
*Students must be present for a minimum of 30 minutes to be counted present for that class period.
MAKE UP ASSIGNMENTS
All missing assignments due to absences must be submitted within 5 days following the absence.
Students are responsible for scheduling a time/date before or after school to make up assessments.
LATE ASSIGNMENTS
1 day late = 5 points off
2 days late = 15 points off
3 days late = 30 points off
4 days late = no credit
